View from the Chair

Jan. 13, 2021

New Year greetings from your new ASIS SF Bay Area Chapter Board! We hope this email finds you healthy and safe. Wow, 2020 was quite the year, and while it is in our rearview mirror, the challenges will linger for a bit in 2021.

The new board - myself, Alicia Maria-Domingos (Vice-Chair), Frances Borths (Treasurer), and Debora Finkler (Secretary) - is already fast at work. We met on January 5 (virtually) to discuss goals, meeting topics, and events for this year. We do not anticipate meeting in person until after June - thus aligning with ASIS International. However, we will be tracking the Bay Area and State of California guidelines for updates on when and how to meet in person safely. In these first couple of months of 2020, we have three events for you. Click the titles to register.

Office Yoga

A virtual office yoga practice for just 30 minutes on January 14 from 10-10:30 am. Kick-off 2021 with this fantastic course on how to keep healthy, limber, and stress-free as you work in your office (whether at work or at home).

January Chapter Meeting

Our virtual chapter meeting on January 21, from 10-11 am, will be a timely presentation by Steve Crimando on domestic terrorism.

ASIS Military Committee Meeting

On February 4, from 10-11 am, the military committee will have a presentation on how 2020 impacted the convergence of physical and cybersecurity.

What else?
We have several new committee chairpersons, and they will be reaching out to the membership to assist with their initiatives. You can find this information here

Please remember: you need to renew your ASIS International membership before renewing your local chapter membership with us. Yes, unfortunately, these charges are still done on separate websites. We still have our discount (2 years for $60) ongoing, so take advantage of it!

Not a member yet? Here’s the link to become an ASIS International Member, and here’s the link to become an SFBA Chapter member.

As always, the board is open to suggestions for topics and speakers for upcoming meetings, as well as improvements to the chapter and general comments. Please reach out to any board member at any time via email.

Thank you and see you soon!
