View from the Chair - October 13
Dear Members and ASIS SFBA Community,
As we enter the fall and start thinking about the end of the year events and board transition, a lot comes to mind. What a year! We adapted to virtual life, we were able to offer free events, we were able to stay connected, learn together, discuss important topics together, make meaningful donations to bay area non-profits, celebrate the Chapter's 65th anniversary, and more!
For this year’s end-of-year event, we decided to combine the new board installation and the Women in Security Holiday event. With that, we have two questions for you members:
- What topic would you like to hear about?
- Are you interested in volunteering in the chapter next year?
- Let us know so we can consider you in the upcoming elections!
- If you are interested, send David Gibbs a quick hello with your area of interest and why you should be considered!
Email: [email protected] - For Board Chair positions, we ask that you volunteered as a committee member before or had some type of leadership role within ASIS (not necessarily locally but within the ASIS world).
- For any position (board or committee chair) you'll need to be a current ASIS International and local SFBA Chapter member.
Aside from this event, here is what you can expect in the next following months:
- Law Enforcement Transition Panel: final hours to register! The event happens on Oct 14th, 4 PM PST
- Blood drive: not an event, but a campaign! Please check out our blood drive efforts in honor of Boyd Brooks from the RFI family.
- Veterans Day Special Event: joins us on a very special event on November 11th at 1 PM PST - this event was tailored to help veterans around mindfulness and practices to help with PTSD.
- YP Happy Hour Sponsored by Allied Universal: in-person and happening in November - more details coming soon! Stay tuned!
- WIS Holiday Event and Board installation Sponsored by Microsoft: in-person happening in December at Northland Controls! More to come soon. Stay tuned!
Please remember to renew your membership! This year we continue offering our members a discount on bundling your 2022 and 2023 dues! For 2 years of local chapter membership, we are cutting the 2023 dues in half. So that means you get 2 years of Chapter involvement and benefits for only $60!
Best Regards,
Alana Forrest
